CLEW is a pioneering company in the artificial intelligence (AI) medical field; their innovative technology is fast challenging
the limitations of the medical world in an ever-developing industry. Their medical insights use AI to help doctors in
Intensive Care Units (ICU) to predict which patients in the ICU are at the high risk of imminent deterioration.
CLEW had encountered challenges in ramping up their automation array and bridging the gap of strict application quality requirements as required by various medical regulations (QMS for FDA, HIPAA, etc).
These challenges were mainly on the functional testing side where they had some issues with stability and coverage.
Since the product was based on Micro Services Architecture, which runs on several Kubernetes docker containers while implementing a CI/CD methodology, testing the product with any applied changes had become overwhelming.
The goal for CLEW was to build a stable test automation environment with maximum coverage to ensure quality control for both the development and deployment processes.
They were looking for an expert provider who could help ramp-up, stabilize and speed-up their automation environment, and, in turn, take their production efforts to the next level.
Ultimately, the challenge was to build a generic automation framework with emphasis on stability and duration, and cost effectiveness.
CLEW looked at a number of outsourcing options, but finally went with Galil Software’s test automation solution, due to several key factors:
Galil Software commenced work with CLEW in December 2018.
Initially, the Galil team studied CLEW’s products and the development environment and charted the main requirements, best practices and recommendations to build a test automation environment and to customize it accordingly.
After reviewing and approving the plans, the team started to implement and customize the Galil automation framework and to setup an automation environment and integrate it with CLEW’s CI process.
Within a few weeks, an end-to-end automation test was in place which tested several basic REST commands for all product micro services; each service has its own standalone test and in less than 2 months a sanity suite was up and running.
The major benefit for CLEW has been its ability to ramp-up automation and improve the quality of their product quickly,
while speeding up the process of detecting problems in the critical path of the product.
In addition, the product is now maintained by an expert onshore team in the domain.
“When CLEW searched for a test automation solution, Galil Software was the obvious choice.
Galil’s expertise, knowledge and automation skills, together with their automation framework, ensured the building and productive implementation of a state-of-the-art automated test environment in less than 2 months –
and we started to see the benefits faster than expected!”.
“The Galil team is currently working closely with both developers and DevOps to develop and execute automation steps
to meet FDA quality requirements. I am extremely happy with the Galil team.”
